Our inspiration, a romantic late 18th century jewelry box we discovered in an antique shop in St. Petersburg on our last visit to Russia. Vintage in provenance, the box was very likely commissioned by a member of the Russian nobility from a St Petersburg craftsman who, at a time when the applied arts had reached new heights, was a master of marquetry. The original pattern?decorated with ivory and inlaid with precious woods?is a thing of glowing beauty reinterpreted into a design of great style. Limited edition.
